Masih bingung nulis urut-urutan angka
dalam Bahasa Inggris? Sebelumnya Ordiinal number itu adalah sebuah angka
pendefinisian yang menyatakan posisi sesuatu dalam barisan.

2nd : second
3rd : third
4th : fourth
5th : fifth (Ingat! bukan fiveth!)
6th : sixth (dan 7th : seventh)
8th : eighth (Ingat! t-nya ga dobel!)
9th : ninth (Ingat lagi! e-nya ilang!)
10th : tenth (Ingat-ingat!)
11th : eleventh
12th : twelfth (Ingat! Asal katanya “twelve”)
13th : thirteenth (Ingat! Asal katanya “thirteen”)
14th : fourteenth (Ingat! Meskipun asalnya “four”, kalau di angka 40 jadinya “forty”)
15th : fifteenth (Ingat! bukan fiveteenth!)

Mulai dari 21 lah, semuanya kembali ke angka 1. INGAT-INGAT INI YA!
21st : twenty first
22nd : twenty second
23rd : twenty third
24th : twenty fourth. Dan seterusnya.
30th : thirtieth
32nd : thirty second
40th : fortieth (Ingat! “u” nya ga ada untuk “forty”)
50th : fiftieth (Ingat! Bukan “Fivetieth” atau “fivety”)
99th : ninety ninth (Pokoknya ingat! ^^)
100th : one hundredth
101st : one hundredth and first (atau “a hundred and first”)
1010th : one thousand and tenth
1221 : one thousand, two hundreds and twenty first

Mari kita ke contoh :
Kucai stopped working in that magazine on the 19th week he had worked.
This is the 44th (forty fourth) hand out I’ve made for you!
For the 121st (a hundredth and twenty first time), can you please pick up your jacket?
Bisa kamu baca perbedaannya? Kalau
sebatas first sampai tenth biasanya dituliskan lengkap, ga dijadikan
angka berindeks gitu. Tapi kalau dah mulai sebelas ke atasnya, ditulisin
pake angkanya.
Jangan lupa pula, setiap ordinal number yang tidak ditambah “ly”, HARUS ada article “a/an” atau “the” .
Ex :
First of all, I don’t act like that.
Secondly, I didn’t ask you to act like this.
And the third, you and I are extremely
different to act like you dreamt. (PS : sebenarnya lebih baik seragam,
kalau satu pake “the” yang lain pake “the” semua)
Selain itu, bila ada pronoun di depan ordinal numbers-nya, kita tidak perlu menambahkan “the”. Penjelasannya begini :
Lita is the first love of mine.
Or : Lita is my first love. (Ga ada “the”, kan? )
“first” itu adalah lawan dari “last”. Jelasnya gini :
Rita may not be my first love, but she’ll be the last one.
Nobody remembers the man who ever came last.
Nah? So how is it? Jelas, ga? Jadi
begitulah kira-kira cara menuliskan ordinal numbers dengan baik, benar,
